Drove it 2 miles to my friend’s dad’s shop and had the codes read from the check engine light. Codes are P0780 and P0847.

P0870 - Gear shifting malfunction

P0847 - Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch “B” Circuit Low

Those links seem to say the transmission control module needs an update. So, the Mazda Roadside Assistance number was called. A tow is coming for it in the morning. Thankfully it’s running/driving fine now, just with a check engine light and those two codes. I don’t feel comfortable curving it the 45 miles to our dealership, though. There’s a dealership here in town, but they barely sell Mazda anymore and they know nothing about them. They’re beyond incompetent. A tow is free for up to 35 miles, so I have to pay 7 miles of it myself. Oh well. Better for my peace of mind.

But, we’re going out of town tomorrow, so it looks like we aren’t taking the CX-5 now.

We have had the car for four years and 36,000 miles and this is the first time it has had a single issue.

Just realized y’all have a thing for blue Mazdas. I mean it is a nice blue so I don’t blame you on bit.

To be fair, we bought hers first and then mine just happened to have a sunroof, which I wanted, so it was the one I got off the lot. But the fact that they almost match is amusing!
